| Grace of Giving: Friends of Hospice eases final days for uninsured
James Holland had a terrible decision to make. The 63-year-old could receive radiation treatment for cancer that had spread from his lungs to his brain, and perhaps live another four months. "But it wouldn't be a good four months," said his sister, Jacqualyn Watson. Or he could go home to die in perhaps two months, but without the strain of further treatment. Holland, a retired heating and air conditioning technician, chose to receive hospice, or end-of-life care, at home. But he had no insurance to pay for it. Yet the day he returned home, a nurse showed up. She talked with him and gauged his needs, entering it all into a laptop computer. The next day, Sept. 19, a hospital bed and wheelchair arrived. .
Boulder: Impeach Bush?
Boulder's elected leaders are expected to decide next week whether to draft and vote on a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. For the past few weeks, activists have been showing up at Boulder City Council meetings, carrying signs, handing out "impeach" pins and asking City Council members to take up such a resolution. Similar measures have passed in cities across the country, including Detroit and Telluride. Liz Robinson, one of the organizers of the effort, said people hoping to see impeachment proceedings have given congressional Democrats — who won a majority in the fall of 2006 — plenty of time to act. But since they haven't, she said, locally elected officials should take up the slack. "Whether or not it's the city's business directly, like potholes, I feel this affects all of us," she said.

Woman denies sex-on-air conditioner accusation
It was Sunday morning, and Arianna Scudelletti says she was simply having a drink with a male friend outside her grandmother's Naples home before walking down to the beach. Naples police, on the other hand, say it was a lot more risqué than that. Scudelletti, of Miami, and her friend Victor Manuael Martes, 24, of Miami Beach, were arrested Sunday morning and charged with disorderly conduct after a man who drove by the home with two children alerted Naples police to two people having sex on an air conditioner, according to arrest reports. Police officers who responded to the scene reported finding both Scudelletti and Martes in “different stages of undress." She said she was wearing bikini shorts and a T-shirt. “We were sitting there talking. We had a bottle of vodka," Scudelletti said in a jail interview Monday night.
